Beaver Block - the process

The first step using my favourite ink pen, purchased while I was in Murano, Italy in 2011. I plan to add some architectural details and then I will give it a day to dry completely before I add watercolour. I have tried to rush it before and ended up with ink bleeding into the colours.

the second step ... adding the architecture...

the third step ... adding watercolour...

added finishing touches and framed ready to hang...

Figure Drawing

From last nights figure drawing session at The ARTS Project. Great model, great poses. I like these freedom and simpicity of these two short gesture sketches. I tend to get very tight and controlled with the longer poses. Still adding the watercolur on some of the ink drawings/sketches.

Figure Drawing

Last monday nights model at The ARTS Project was great. Gestures full of movement, held the longer poses incredibly well. First drawing, short pose - 3 minutes from the session.
This was started on Monday night then I added pen lines later. I like how easily pen and ink can create thick and thin lines and how stonehenge paper allows such smooth smudging.

JMR Gallery

This morning, I dropped off 9 of my original drawings at JMR Gallery (Home of the Ontario Artist). The gallery is located in Bayfield Ontario, a beautiful and historic little town on the shores of Lake Huron. My work will be there from now to December 20. Drawings include male and female figurative art and golf art. I will be taking some architectural and some more golf images in mid September. If you are in the area, check it out.
