Winter

Museum London Winter, (ink, watercolour & gouche), 4x6", ©2018
March 1, winter is far from over, but the last couple of days have felt like spring! I have been walking the dog wearing a light jacket. I keep reminding myself winter is not over, keep your winter coat, hat, and mitts close at hand. I like winter, seriously, I like how clean a blanket of snow looks, a light snow falling is beautiful, I like the change of seasons, the contrast of white with the blue of the sky, etc When there is snow outside, I enjoy painting snow, but as soon as there is the slightest hint of spring, I want no part of snow in my illustrations. I did this illustration ‘Museum London Winter’ last week, to be used as the title page in a presentation to the Museum London Tour Guides. Then Monday when we make our presentation, its 12 degrees and sunny! Now that I have tasted spring weather, I am ready for golf season and no more snow.

Figure Drawing - Male vs Female

For me, a male figure drawing is just that, a male figure drawing. I just draw what I see and I don't feel the need to add or expand the image. But with a female figure drawing, I have a whole different approach. It just expands itself. When I see the female form (drawn on my page), I see more. Its about what is going on in my life right now, how I am feeling about certain things, more of story emerges. It's really a self portrait, of sorts. The three pictures that I have at The ARTS Project right now, are examples of that.

Untitled Female No, 6 (6' x6", India Ink and Graphite) The figure drawing was done with reference to a figure drawing session on January 4th. I played around with quite a few other layouts, more complicated, detailed drawings and finally came to a use the very simple backgorund shapes that represent Museum London.... New Jobs

Only four days into one of my new jobs. So far... I love it. Surrounded by artwork. Surrounded by people who appreciate art. A chance, on a regular basis to talk to artists/clients about artists/artwork/mediums/styles/etc. And being the detail freak that I am, I get to be responsible for accurate, detailed, organized records for the artwork. I have a short walk by the river to the fork of the Thames to work. A window overlooking the new fountain in the river. I'm sure, as with all jobs there will be parts I may not like or may be frustrating, but I am looking forward to Wednesday afternoon, next time I work at Art Rental and Sales Gallery at Museum London.

As for tomorrow, I go to The London Potters Guild ...
